Embeint co-founder and Chief Engineer Jordan Yates has been named Top Committer in the first Zephyr Community Awards. Kate Stewart, Vice President of Dependable Embedded Systems at the Linux Foundation, presented the award at the Zephyr Developer Summit in Prague, held 7 to 9 October alongside Open Source Summit Europe, as the Zephyr Project marked its 10th anniversary.

The Zephyr Project created the Community Awards this year to recognise the people who built the RTOS over its first decade. Top Committer honours outstanding technical excellence through code contributions to the Zephyr codebase and hosted projects over the past 10 years. Winners were chosen by a committee.

Other winners included Anas Nashif, Maureen Helm and David Leach (Distinguished Achievement), Carles Cufí (Technical Visionary) and Henrik Brix Andersen (Workhorse).

Jordan sits on the Zephyr Technical Steering Committee. He is the official Maintainer of the LoRa / LoRaWAN and CMSIS-NN subsystems, and a collaborator on power management, modem drivers and Trusted Firmware-M integration.

"Zephyr is ten years old and it is now how serious ultra-low-power products ship. I am proud to be recognised by a community I have learnt so much from. Every fix we land upstream makes the devices our partners have in the field more reliable, and easier to maintain for years."

Jordan Yates, Co-founder and Chief Engineer.

Infuse-IoT is Zephyr RTOS based. It is built for ultra-low-power, battery-powered IoT, with secure over-the-air updates and OTA AI/ML that does not require firmware changes. The people who maintain Zephyr code build and support Infuse.

That depth is what makes the Marketplace possible: third-party, pre-compiled algorithms from research partners, running side by side on someone else's firmware without changing it.

"Jordan is the reason we can say we help run the parts of Zephyr that matter for this class of device. This award is the community saying the same thing. For our partners it means one thing: the foundation under their fleet is maintained by people who know it line by line."

Phil Valencia, CEO and Co-founder.
